Saga's Ebisu Statue Unveiling Ceremony and the "EBISU SUPER HAPPY" Mural

Published Nov 5, 2026

An approximately 100-year-old Ebisu statue from Saga City, which boasts the most Ebisu statues in Japan (over 830), has arrived in Ebisu, Tokyo, and an unveiling ceremony was held on Saturday, October 31, 2026.

Arriving in Ebisu After a Long Journey

The Ebisu statue left the "Kaiun Saga Ebisu Station" on September 28. It had a safety prayer held at Chinzei Nishinomiya Shrine in Kawasoe-cho, Saga City, then passed through Nishinomiya Shrine in Hyogo Prefecture, the head shrine of Ebisu worship, before being enshrined in Ebisu. The statue is placed in the space in front of "Art, Tea & Bar homunculus," which is also a Saga City specialty products partner store.

A Mural Painted with Children

The shutter of the shop now features a colorful mural, "EBISU SUPER HAPPY," by artist Kensuke Miyazaki. During production, workshops were held with local elementary school students and children connected to embassies in Shibuya City. This initiative is part of Shibuya City's anti-graffiti program, the "Shibuya Arrow Project."

A "Lucky Spot" Connecting Saga and Tokyo

At "Art, Tea & Bar homunculus," you can enjoy Saga's specialty products and fine sake, and it also serves as a base for sharing the appeal of Saga's Ebisu culture and walking around the town. Ebisu, the birthplace of Yebisu Beer, and Saga City are connected through the bond of "Ebisu," and the circle of exchange will continue to grow.

The unveiling ceremony included the unveiling of the completed mural and behind-the-scenes stories of its creation, the unveiling of the Ebisu statue, an introduction to Saga's Ebisu culture and history by the "Ebisu DE Machizukuri Network," and a commemorative photo session.
